Odds on Albania to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Albania to make the Euro 2024 knockouts?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Albania will be hoping to fight their way out of Group B. But what are the odds for Albania to make the knockouts of Euro 2024?

The Albania national football team was founded back in 1930. The biggest wins in their history have been 5-0 victories over San Marino (2021) and Vietnam (2003), as well as a 6-1 win over Cyprus in 2009. Unfortunately, the biggest defeat in their history was a little bigger, having conceded 12 goals to Hungary in 1950 without reply.

Albania have never appeared at the World Cup, but Euro 24 will be their second European Championships. In 2016, Albania recorded their first goal and first major tournament win against Romania, but were unable to make it out of the group stages. Albania do have some international pedigree though, having won the 1946 Balkan Cup and the 2000 Malta Rothmans International Tournament against Malta, Andorra, and Azerbaijan. They come into Euro 24 as one of the lowest-ranked teams and the least fancied to win the tournament, but can they make it out of Group B with odds of 3.75?

What are the chances for Albania to win Euro 2024?

There is a reason Albania have the biggest odds to win Euro 2024 and that is because they have been placed into an absolute Group of Death. Even finishing as one of the best four third-placed finishers is going to be tough for the Albanians with Spain, Croatia and Italy for company in Group B. Albania are ranked as the 66th best team in the world, the second-lowest rank seen at Euro 2024 ahead of only Georgia. Scroll way up the rankings and you will find Spain at number eight, Italy in ninth, and Croatia in 10th. So, if Albania have any hope of making it to the knockouts, they are going to have to cause an upset or two along the way.

Albania come into Euro 2024 in some mixed form. Although they lost their last two matches against Sweden and Chile, the Albanians were unbeaten in eight games before that. This run of victories included wins over Bulgaria, Czechia, Poland, Moldova and the Faroe Islands, which is a pretty impressive feat for the team ranked 66th in the world. Their ability to beat teams like Poland and Czechia could come in handy this summer when they face such formidable opponents in Group B.

The player to keep an eye on this summer from Albania is undoubtedly Armando Broja, who recently swapped Chelsea for Fulham in the Premier League. Grabbing goals from nothing is going to be important against the likes of Spain, Italy and Croatia, so Albania will need Broja at his poaching best. Albania can also call upon Inter Milan’s Kristjan Asilani, Espnayol’s Keidi Bare, Atalanta’s Berat Djimsiti, Lazio’s Elseid Hysaj and Sussuolo duo Marash Kumbulla and Nedim Bajrami.

Albania currently have odds of 3.75 to qualify from Group B, 12.00 to make the quarter-finals, 40.00 to reach the semi-finals and 500.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
