Odds on Belgium to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Belgium to win Euro 2024?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Kevin De Bruyne will be hoping to fire Belgium to a historic win. But what are the odds for Belgium to win Euro 2024?

BELGIUM – 20.00 to win

Belgium may not have won a European Championships before, but they will be hoping for glory this summer in Germany. Founded in 1904, The Red Devils have been regulars near the top of the men’s World Rankings for the past decade. While the country enjoyed somewhat of a golden generation in the 1980s and 90s, Belgium arguably surpassed that in 2015 when they became the top-ranked side in the world. In fact, they became the first team in history to become world number one without winning a World Cup or continental trophy.

The likes of Vincent Kompany, Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen, Thibaut Courtois and Toby Alderweireld later made history when they finished third at the 2018 World Cup but were never quite able to translate their golden generation into a major trophy. Fast forward to the present day and De Bruyne is still leading the charge. But with 20.00 odds to win Euro 2024, will Belgium be successful this time around? What are the chances for Belgium to win Euro 2024?

Belgium’s golden generation has well and truly passed, but that’s not to say this current crop can’t beat the odds and challenge at Euro 2024. De Bruyne and Vertonghen are now both well in their thirties and the vast majority of their old 2018 teammates have retired from the sport, but the Red Devils are still just as hungry as ever.

Being placed in a favourable group will certainly help Belgium, alongside Ukraine, Slovakia and Romania in Group E. Belgium are currently ranked as the third-best team in the world, ironically one place higher than the Euro 2024 bookies favourites, England. France are the only European side ranked higher than Belgium, who are notoriously clinical when it comes to qualifying campaigns.

Belgium have been in good form heading into the tournament this summer too. In fact, they went toe-to-toe with England back in March and were leading the game up until a last-minute Jude Bellingham equaliser. Since losing 2-0 to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, Belgium have been on an 11-game unbeaten run, including wins over Germany, Sweden, Serbia and Austria. That’s pretty good preparation for a major tournament!

The Red Devils have all the ingredients of a difficult side to beat. Thibaut Courtois between the sticks is one of the most consistent goalkeepers in world football. Jan Vertonghen may not be blessed with youth and pace, but he has more international caps than any player in Belgium’s history. In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne has a unique ability to create chances from thin air and up front, Romelu Lukaku has made a career out of putting such chances into the back of the net.

They may not be favourites, but Belgium are certainly good value to go deep into the knockouts this summer and are 20.00 to win the entire tournament.
