The European Championships are just around the corner and Denmark will be hoping to go deep into the knockouts. But what are the odds for Denmark to make the semi-finals of Euro 2024?

Denmark may not have any World Cups to their name but they do have pedigree at the European Championships, having lifted the trophy in 1992. That year, the Danes not only defeated world champions Germany in the finals, but also the defending European champions, The Netherlands, in the semi-final.

Denmark have always remained competitive at major tournaments, most recently making the semi-finals of Euro 2020, narrowly losing to England in extra-time. What are the chances for Denmark to win Euro 2024?

Euro 2020 was a traumatic and emotional affair for the Denmark national team. During a group stage match against Finland, Christian Eriksen collapsed off the ball and suffered a cardiac arrest on the field of play. Fortunately, the former Tottenham star received life-saving CPR on the pitch and was then rushed straight to hospital. In the months that followed, Eriksen was able to make a full recovery and even returned to competitive action for Brentford in the Premier League, ahead of an eventual move to Manchester United. Keen to do Christian proud at Euro 2020, Denmark marched all the way to the semi-finals before eventually bowing out to England. This time, they will have their talismanic midfielder back and will be aiming to repeat the feat once more.

Ironically, Denmark will face England much earlier this time around, having been drawn in Group C with the bookies favourites. Slovenia and Serbia will likely be Denmark’s main competition for a qualifying place unless they can cause a real upset and beat the Three Lions. Denmark are currently ranked as the 21st-best team in the world, with Serbia 33rd and Slovenia 57th. Christian Eriksen will likely come up against an old teammate from his Spurs days in Harry Kane, but the two will be anything but friends on the pitch this summer.

Denmark come into Euro 2024 in decent form, with seven wins and two draws from their last ten games, although none of these fixtures involved any of the teams ranked in the top 20 in the world. The Danes boast a strong and experienced spine of Kasper Schmeichel, Joachim Andersen, Simon Kjaer, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Christian Eriksen and Manchester United striker, Rasmus Hojlund.

Denmark are currently 40.00 to win Euro 2024 outright, 7.00 to reach the semi-finals and 3.00 to make it to the quarters. They certainly have enough know-how and talent in their ranks to cause a few upsets along the way this summer, so the Danes could be a good bet to make it out of Group C and fight their way through a couple of knockout rounds.
