Odds on Poland to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Poland to make the Euro 2024 quarter-finals?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Poland will be hoping to fight their way through the knockouts. But what are the odds for Poland to make the quarter-finals of Euro 2024?

Poland played their very first match back in 1921, making them more than 100 years old on the football scene. In that time, Poland have competed in nine World Cups and five European Championships. Their best World Cup finishes came during their Golden Generation in the 1970s and 80s, coming third in both the 1974 and 1982 tournaments.

In the European Championships, the best Poland have ever achieved is an appearance in the 2016 quarter-finals. The pinnacle of Polish international football came in 1972 when they won the gold medal at the Munich Summer Olympic Games. However, they still boast one of the best strikers in the world in Robert Lewandowski, giving them plenty of firepower heading into Euro 2024 this summer.

What are the chances for Poland to win Euro 2024?

Poland have been placed into a pretty difficult group this summer, alongside one of the favourites to go all the way and win Euro 2024 – France. The Netherlands, who are ranked as the seventh-best team in the world, are also in Group D, with Austria filling the final spot. Technically, Poland are the lowest-ranked team in the group at 28th in the world, three places below Austria. However, the existence of Robert Lewandowski up front certainly gives the Polish an edge heading into the summer tournament. With four group-stage qualification spots available for the best third-place finishers, Poland may end up competing with Austria for a place in the knockouts.

Poland are also on a decent run of form heading into Germany as they haven’t lost a game since September 2023. Since then, they have recorded wins over the Faroe Islands, Latvia, Estonia and Wales (on penalties), as well as draws against Moldova and Czechia. The last time Poland played one of the biggest European heavyweights, they beat Germany 1-0 at home in June 2023. They are going to need that kind of energy if they are to make it out of Group D alive this summer.

Of course, Lewandowski’s record speaks for itself, but he is by no means Poland’s only valuable player. Juventus goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny is one of the most experienced shot-stoppers around, while Jakob Kiwior has enjoyed a sensational season for Arsenal in the Premier League. Sebastian Szymanski has also been catching the eye for Fenerbache this year and is being linked with some of the biggest clubs in England, including Tottenham Hotspur. In Serie A, Poland are well represented, with Nicola Zalewski, Piotr Zielinski and Bartosz Bereszynski playing for Roma, Napoli and Empoli respectively.

Poland currently have odds of 2.25 to qualify from Group D, 4.50 to make the quarter-finals, 13.00 to reach the semi-finals and 150.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
