Odds on Serbia to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Serbia to make the Euro 2024 knockouts?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Serbia will be hoping to make it out of Group C. But what are the odds for Serbia to qualify for the Euro 2024 knockouts?

After the breakup of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992, Serbia continued to play football under the name FR Yugoslavia National Football Team. This new team was comprised of players from Serbia and Montenegro but was initially banned from competing at the World Cup and European Championships due to a number of international sanctions.

The name was then changed to Serbia and Montenegro from 2003 to 2006, before the latter declared independence. Ever since then, Serbia have competed under their own name at multiple World Cups. Euro 2024 will be Serbia’s first appearance in 24 years and their debut under their own name. They currently have 1.57 odds to make it out of Group C and into the knockouts.

What are the chances for Serbia to win Euro 2024?

Serbia find themselves in a tricky group this summer as they arrive for Euro 2024 in Germany. England are the bookies’ favourites to win the entire tournament, which is daunting opposition to come up against so early in proceedings. Denmark are ranked as the 21st best team in the world, while Serbia are down in 33rd and Slovenia in 57th. On paper, it certainly seems to be a shootout between Serbia and the Danes for that second automatic qualification spot.

Serbia come into the tournament in the most up-and-down of form. Every good result seems to be followed by an immediate defeat at the moment for the Serbs. A 3-1 win over Lithuania came just before a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hungary. Serbia beat Cyprus and drew to Bulgaria, but suffered a 4-0 loss to the Football Union of Russia in between. If they are to stand any chance of progressing to the Euro 2024 knockouts, they are going to have to find a way to string two or three positive performances in a row together.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Serbia though! On paper, they have a wonderfully talented crop of players heading into the summer’s competition. Captain Dusan Tadic may be 35 years old now, but he has a long and impressive career history with Ajax and in the Premier League with Southampton. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the most combative and technically proficient midfielders in the world for a number of years now, while Alexander Mitrovic found the back of the net for fun during his time in England with Fulham. Felip Kostic is also a regular for Juventus in Serie A and Sasa Lukic has impressed for Fulham this season in the Premier League.

Serbia are currently 1.57 to qualify from Group C, 4.25 to make the quarter-finals, 10.00 to feature in the semi-finals and 80.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
