Odds on Slovenia to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Slovenia to make the Euro 2024 knockouts?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Slovenia will be hoping to fight their way out of Group C. But what are the odds for Slovenia to make the knockouts of Euro 2024?

The Slovenia men’s national team was founded in 1992 after the country gained independence from Yugoslavia. Since then, Slovenia have qualified for two World Cups and two European Championships, including Euro 2024. Unfortunately, Slovenia have never made it out of the group stage at the major tournament, but they will be looking to make history in Group C this summer.

Slovenia have only ever won once at a major tournament, defeating Algeria 1-0 at the 2010 World Cup. That means any victory this summer in Germany would be Slovenia’s very first European Championship win. One of the most famous wins in Slovenia’s history came in 2004 when they beat Italy 1-0. Italy went on to win the World Cup in 2006 and that defeat to Slovenia was their only loss in the entire campaign.

What are the chances for Slovenia to win Euro 2024?

Slovenia have been placed into a tough group for the European Championships, alongside England, Denmark, and Serbia. England are the favourites to top Group C, and win Euro 2024 for that matter. Denmark are ranked as the 21st-best team in the world, with Serbia down in 33rd and Slovenia bringing up the rear in 57th. On paper, that makes it tough for Slovenia to make it into the knockout rounds, but football isn’t played on paper. Three third-place finishers will also qualify for the knockout stages of Euro 2024, so Slovenia could boost their chances by getting a good win over just one of their Group C rivals.

Slovenia come into Euro 2024 in good form, with recent wins over Portugal, the United States of America, Kazakhstan, Finland, Northern Ireland, and San Marino, as well as a draw with Denmark. In fact, Slovenia have only lost once in their last 10 games, which is a good sign heading into Germany this summer. The most recent win over Portugal proves they have the ability to cause an upset too, so England and Denmark may have to keep one eye open in Group C.

The superstar of the Slovenia national team is undoubtedly Atletico Madrid legend and La Liga-winner, Jan Oblak. Oblak has been regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world for the past decade and is well-used to a defensive style of football under Diego Simeone. At the other end of the pitch, Slovenia can rely on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko for goals at Euro 2024, while Udinese duo Jaka Bijol and Sandi Lovric complete a quality national team spine. Slovenia may not blow teams away in Germany, but they could certainly be a hard opponent to break down if they get their tactics right.

Slovenia currently have odds of 2.25 to qualify from Group C, 8.00 to make the quarter-finals, 30.00 to reach the semi-finals and 250.00 to go all the way and win Euro 2024 outright.
