Odds on Turkey to win Euro 2024

What are the odds for Turkey to make the Euro 2024 semi-finals?

The European Championships are just around the corner and Turkey will be hoping to go deep into the knockouts. But what are the odds for Turkey to make the semi-finals of Euro 2024?

The Turkey national team was founded in 1923 and has qualified for a number of major tournaments since then. Turkey have participated in the Summer Olympics six times, making it to the quarter-finals in both 1948 and 1952. They have qualified for the World Cup a total of three times, most recently in 2002 when Turkey made it to the semi-finals and picked up a bronze medal for their troubles.

The European Championships have also been a regular tournament for Turkey of late, with six appearances in 1996, 2000, 2008, 2016, 2020, and 2024. Their best Euros finish came in 2008 when they made it to the semi-finals and they will be looking to do something similar this time around. What are the chances for Turkey to win Euro 2024?

Turkey have never won a major tournament in their history and are yet to make it all the way to a final. Therefore, they are extreme outsiders to win Euro 2024 outright at 50.00. However, they do have experience in the semi-finals of both the World Cup and the Euros, so 10.00 odds on a run to the final four could be good value for Turkey.

Turkey find themselves in a group alongside Portugal, Czechia, and Georgia, meaning they have a very realistic chance of fighting their way out of Group F. Turkey are currently ranked 40th in the world, with Czechia narrowly above at 36th. On paper, it looks to be a straight shootout between those two to qualify in second place behind Portugal, but both are capable of causing an upset and taking points off Cristiano Ronaldo and co.

That being said, Turkey come into Euro 2024 in some pretty wretched form. A 6-1 demolition job at the hands of Austria, a 1-0 defeat to Hungary and a 1-1 draw to Wales make up Turkey’s last three international fixtures. But fans can take solace from a recent 3-2 win over Germany in November 2023, showing that they are more than capable of causing an upset on the big stage.

Turkey’s standout star is undoubtedly their captain, Hakan Calhanoglu, who currently plies his trade for Inter Milan in the Serie A. Kenan Yildiz also looks like an exciting talent, with the 18-year-old playing more than 30 games for Juventus across all competitions this season. Benfica’s Orkun Kokcu, Hoffenheim’s Ozan Kabak, Roma’s Mehmet Zeki Celik, and Al-Ahli’s Merih Demiral are also key players to keep an eye on for Turkey this summer.
